Meet Jenn, Phil, and two lively boys

Hello friends!

The Snyder and Dickerson family could not be more excited to install a garden in their yard!

Here is why they're so enthusiastic about this project:

Q: Why do you want to participate in the Victory Garden project?

A:  We have wanted a garden for a long time but couldn't get the time and resources together to learn how to do it on our own!  We enjoy gardening and also enjoy cooking with fresh ingredients.

Q: How will growing your own food benefit you? (your home, your life, your family....)
A: Spending time together planning the garden, figuring out what our favorite vegetables and flowers are, and watching the garden grow as a family will be an invaluable experience for our kids and an unforgettable one for us. The garden crop will be amazing to pick and use to cook meals. I'm excited about the fresh produce!

Q: Do you have any concerns? How do you feel about undertaking this project?
A: We are excited about taking this on.

One concern is how to make sure it gets taken care of when we take a summer vacation. Also, we could use advice on how to deal with pests, squirrels and birds.  And we could use advice on anticipating other potential pitfalls (blossom end rot, fungi, voles).

Q: What are some favorite foods/herbs you like to grow?

A:  Herbs: Basil, oregano, cilantro, sage, thyme, mint.

Food: Onions, garlic, chives, green onion, cucumbers, strawberries, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, and squash.
